The Veritas egreogre idea has been around for quite a while now and as of yet there has been no combined, united effort to get the project started.
This poll will help to clarify via vote what most people want in the egreogre, and then perhaos it can be made into a sigil and placed at the top of every page on veritas.

Please post if you vote and if possible the reason why.

I think it should be made for motivational purposes...

I think the motivational idea is good, but also I like the one about increasing article production.

Haha, even before I read replies I had motivation in mind. Let me elaborate just a little...

I think most people here are capable of learning. We can read the articles, we can understand the articles, we can do some extra research. The issue that I think Veritas has is not that of a lack of learning, but a lack of practice. Armchair occultists (or psions) are probably a good percentage of our population. I think we should try to stimulate more desire to practice.

And just as a twisted coincidence, the very act of everyone trying to help create the egregore is a good practice for some of us. =P

motivation+inspiration+productivness is a good triple quality.

I'd also like to point out, we shouldn't have the "Uber powerful members" of Veritas making this egregore, otherwise it's less practice for we lesser folk Tongue

I think there is actually an online program that lets multiple people play with a drawing program similar to microsoft paint.

We could make the sigil that way if someone can find it.

The point of the egregore would be to help aid in the success of the members, correct me if I have read something incorrectly. Creating an egregore is not practice, it should be something that is sustained for that purpose alone: to help motivate or whichever is chosen. Thus, the "uber powerful members" would be the ones specifically looked at to help in such a project. I must stress, when doing such a thing it is not a matter of "being left out" or "putting your own will into it" but a matter of creating it and sustaining it and having it fulfill it's purpose; and if there are people who know how to do exactly that, they should be the ones to invest their time in it.

Then perhaps a basic Servitor that has been programmed to motivate people into doing things? Perhaps giving them a burst or energy so they may study and train or somthing...

Agreed, I'm living proof of that Wink I also agree that if this were to be done, haveing people such as myslef (people without significant practice) working on it would be a bad idea, practice or not, Xeno is right.

I'm not too well versed into the mechanics of servitors and so forth. Would someone not-well-practiced have negative effects, or just not be much benefit? If the former, I agree that they should be left out. If the latter, it would be best to get them involved for the sake of practice. However, I certainly agree with Xeno that we should specifically try to get the skilled magicians to perform the core of the work - otherwise the entire project is going to fall flat on its face.

If I remember in the thread that wil posted a link to *points up* they mention having the more skilled members make the frame and the main structure of the servitor and have the less advanced members help charge the servitor at different times to speed up the charging process.

As long as the members involved in the creation of the egreogre know what they are doing and are making the same exact intent with the same exact sigil, then anyone can help.

the only problem I see in the general populace participating, is that people like me, the angry cynical type, would probably fill the egregor/servitor with the wrong intentions. at least, I myself would worry about the particulars of my thoughts, and end up projecting/charging/contributing detrimental focus...

but maybe it won't be a problem. I really don't see the harm in trying though...

oh, and I think motivation is the best idea.
