FACE MY WRATH!!
Seriously, folks. I was having a helluva time getting any one of my three IRC clients to hook up to that nutty irc.sorcery.net server. (Kendamu will vouch for the fact that I was cursing far more than normal.) And all three clients were working fine on other servers. Sure, some would call it prohibitive to move it just for the travails of one member- but then again, there's the
WRATH!!

For me it doesn't work to connect to irc.sorcery.net, but only to: 209.17.76.190, 195.169.138.124, and 204.152.184.80
(Not sure why, but it just happens that way.)

Yeah, once I did a host lookup and used the IP address instead, BitchX actually connected to the server, but then something strange happened and the server ignored my /join commands (even when I used their version, '/j'). /help worked, /list worked, a few other things worked, but /join or /j just ignored me.

BTW, Sadistic- the Linux black helicopters are on their way with an armed-to-the-teeth penguin death squad. You won't hear them coming- they're in whisper mode.

They have X-Chat for every OS except for Solaris. I use it in windows. I only use windows because I need the software. I have never had any problems connecting to sorcerynet... ever, try unholy.sorcery.net. BLASPHEMY! LINUX IS THE ALL SUPERIOR OS! (not counting BSD) IT ONLY SUCKS TO THOSE WHO ARE USED TO USER FRIENDLINESS! Linux is not for noobs, you need to configure everything properly and it is 10000 times better then windows. While windows was made when bill gates took a shit.

Actually I have a Windows version of X-Chat. I have never had any problems connecting to sorcerynet. The network is fine, try specifying a server. Like nexus.sorcery.net, Unholy.sorcery.net, and something else that starts with a D are all fine to me. Actually, the only networks that I have trouble connecting to are those horrible ones with thousands of channels and users. Like Austnet and DALnet. <--(These networks should die). Now to defend Linux. You have taken the side of windows, you no longer have any credibility whatsoever. Linux is now better again. But on a serious note, how can you say that? Sure Linux is less user friendly but user friendliness is what has destroyed alot of people's competence for computers. Well not destroyed as it would have to be there, well they didn't gain it because computers were easy to use. Things like, Windows, AOL, and BREAKFAST CEREALS! Linux is awesome if you know how to use it. It takes alot of configuration but if you do it properly it isn't like windows where there will be some freak random problem and you need to reset everything. Windows is probably the most unstable operating system in existance. Linux on the other hand offers power, security, nerdhood, and many other things. Notice how when it is not needed Windows in not used. Noone uses Windows server OS's. In a network enviornment they use more FreeBSD, Solaris(lol), Linux, and other things. Linux is amazing. Like a giant majestic beast, more powerful then any who oppose it. However you need to tame if first, LEST IT EAT YOU AND YOUR SOUL THEN VOMIT YOUR REMAINS, LINE YOUR STOMACH WITH EAGLE LEATHER AND THROW YOU INTO THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD IN NORMANDY!
So there.

Also, You know Darkmyst.org? That is the network that is now in possesion of the Vampiric server. The services there are amazing. Chanserv joins the channels much like ChanOP joins the channels in Austnet. It is a cool network if you want to move there. Also if you use the tolkien server on Darkmyst the logon screen has an ASCII animation of a wizard. NIFTY!
