This poll stems from a few remarks on IRC yesterday. I just want to know if your childhood memories are in the first person (i.e. From your point of view, how you view things in life) or the third person (i.e as if it was a film of your early life and your watching yourself doing the things in the memory).

This is an interesting poll right here. I think most of my childhood memories are in third-person. Why is that (psychologically)?

I think most of my childhood was viewed in the third person when I was living it. My memories certainly end up that way, but I can move myself into the first person with minimal effort.

first person for me, but my dreams vary. sometimes first, sometimes third, sometimes I even see myself as anothe person and then leave that person and go to nothingness...

I always have 3rd person memories, doesn't matter when they happened, I wasn't there except floating in the air watching myself.  As for dreams, I am almost never in my dreams, I just float around observing the scenery.
Boldly, I bow to the banished, bend knee to the broken, and break bread with the bereaved.  Behold the breath-taking beauty of brutality, of quick and permanent change, breaking the lines built to seperate polarities.  Brashly blending that which can't be bent.

I just thought about mentioning it cause sometimes people see memories in dreams from different perspectives. I have.

Crowley, it's out of your hands now, let it go...

And also, Is anyone else here frequently not in their dreams in any conceivable form?

I did not vote, because they are both.  When I was a baby, everything seemed in the third-person, then at some point, everything became first-person.
I'm only in my dreams about half the time.  Which is to say, I have a first-person presence sometimes.  Dreams are ourselves anyways.

I am quite baffled by the result of this poll.  How can they be memories if they are so different from the original experience that your brain has reconstructed an entirely new perspective?
