UPDATED:

The mentor program is here to help the general student body at veritas advance their studies, by providing mentors to answer your questions, coordinate study groups, and guide your studies. Before applying here, you should have read some of the articles, and have some idea of what you want to study.  We can help you narrow that down if you need.

Name (what you want to be called)
Age
Time Zone

What are you interested in studying at veritas?

What are your other interests?

Why are you applying to the mentor program?

Please answer these questions in PM to 'Mentors'(that is an account name, for those who didn't notice) we only have so many mentors currently and that will limit who we can mentor currently. You will be informed of the mentor you are assigned to when avaliable.

>>>> Here is a list of the current mentors and some basic bios on them to give you an idea of who we have currently: http://vsociety.net/index.php?title=Mentoring:Mentor_bios

Question (since there was no formal input on where questions should be taken), if you're only taking 50 at the beginning of May, then does mean that those 50 will have a set study time, and then another 50 (or more, depending on what transpires) will be taken on?

nothing like that, it's just to work out the kinks in the program.  also, it's the limit of students we are comfortable taking until the program grows.

posting here is perfectly fine for putting questions though.

So, is this an application to be a student or mentor? And if student, who'll be the mentors?
<@kobok> And if you push hard enough, you can shove quite a lot into a chicken.

<@Trowa> When someone told him to jump off a cliff, he argued the semantic meanings of "jump" and "cliff", and then proceeded to do just that.

Who are the so called mentors? What are their backgrounds on the diff fields? It's all too blurry imho.

The mentors are just a bunch of us who are willing to help people who want more guidance in their studies.  We all have different backgrounds, and thats the point of the application, to help us decide who will help who.

a list of the mentors is going to be posted soon, as people who don't mind anyone contacting for help with a subject. (we just havn't finished working that list out yet.)

sounds interesting.

1) So the Mentors just answer questions that applicants send?

2) Are the mentors supposed to make articles for these 50 applicants?

3) How many people will be sloted into each catagories (Magic Psionics and Body energy arts)?

4) What are the requirements for being a mentor/applicant?

5) Why do hot dogs come in packs of 12, but buns only in packs of 8?

1) the mentors answer questions and guide studies/practices

2) we have put together a big compilation of basics article to be released soon, but that   is just a side thing, not our actual purpose.

3) we are a pretty diverse group, probably taking 5 students or less each, and we are placing people according to the general theme of their interests, since we are all multidisciplinary. (so your over all interest might be controlling your environment, improving fighting abilities, or healing the sick, etc)

4) to be a mentor, you have to be multidisciplinary, have the ability to help others with their studies, and the willingness to put aside time for it.  a mentor candidate will be judged by how they convey information, and their general reputation. (mentors have zero privilages).  An applicant needs nothing to apply, but it helps for them to know what they want to study, of course, we will help them figure that out if needed.

5) its a very long running plot to force people into buying them in sets of 48.

just curious, but why must you be multidisciplinary? Couldn't you just have a very large amount of knowlage and exsperiance in one area?

EDIT: Also, Could you be both an applicant and a mentor? for instance, you Magic and you know Psionics and you want to be a mentor. But you also want to learn QiGong or Yoga or another body energy art. Could you help with the magic and psionics and be taught the body energy arts?

As I recall, this was `Wil's intention. So I see no problem with it.
:)
Hell, I plan to do the aforementioned example myself.

Though I'm not certain what he meant about multi-disciplinary, I believe his implication was to be able to manage their time in order to help as they applied for and to be knowledgeable in the topics they witch to help on.

In addition, the intention of the program is to also help the mentors learn about the other topics that they want to learn about, or just in general so that they may be able to help in those areas too. The aid provided by the program is intended for everyone.

So, where's the application for those who want to mentor? :P
The thing that really fascinates me about people is their ability to have no idea what's going on even though it's going on in plain sight all around them and the even more amazing tendency to argue violently when one of these obvious things is presented to them.

When will people get told whether they've been accepted or not?

If your interested in becoming a mentor then PM one of the current mentors in the program and you'll recieve more details. Thus far we are still accepting students so it's almost certain to say that if you've applied you've been excepted. Once the program gets off the ground and we have all the details worked out you'll find out more. That will hopefully be soon.
