So, why did the design change so drastically?

And more importantly, who thought that this new logo looks good?

The old design was significantly incompatible with the new forum software upgrade which was required as a security update.  The old logo was then incompatible with the dimensions of the new design.

As I have told others who have complained about the logo, I welcome member submissions of new logo options which fit well into the available space.  If we get multiple submissions we can have a pleasant shouting match about their aesthetic merits, or maybe even vote on them.

In fact, let's open up this thread for logo submissions, if anyone wants to try.

I like the current logo as is. I would like it to stand :)

Mastery does not occur when you've performed a feat once or twice. Instead, it comes after years of training, when you realize that you no longer notice when you're performing a feat which used to require so much effort. Even walking takes years of training for a human: why not everything else?

I did like the other logo because I love calligraphy, but I also love ancient manuscripts, so this is a good logo!

Akenu, I think your logos would be off-putting since they look more like corporate designs than for a forum of metaphysical and intellectual discussion.
"Spirit is in a state of grace forever.
Your reality is only spirit.
Therefore you are in a state of grace forever."

"As relfections of the Source, we are little gods."

"...part of me doesn't want to believe that auto-eroticism while crushing on a doodle (sigil) could manifest a check in the mail box, but hey, it did."

"Everybody laughs the same language."

This looks weird...

The main problem is in the background color.

Veritas isn't a corporation it is an internet forum run by people who spend their personal money and time to give others a place to share ideas and experiences not a business, and being so, should not be represented by corporate symbolism. Your last one is nice, though.

Just to be picky, the font on the current logo could have a little more umph, but I really don't mind it as it is. It gets the message clearly across.

Regarding the last one, I just made a quick sketch in inkscape. I plan to do it photorealistically in blender, but that's a 3 hours work, not a 3 minute work :)
