welcome the one of the biggest OEC debates.

i think they are different, mainly on the basis that psi can be programmed and has some connection with your nerves

I suppose the easiest way to think about them is that ki/chi is your physical energy, whereas psi is your mental energy.

Oh god.. not this thread again...
*hides under desk*
Well there are many different opinions and debates regarding the differences between chi and psi... Some believing they are one and the same, others believing it is a waste of time catagorizing the different energies of the body, and others believing that they are different.
My vies on the subject... well I have mixed thoughts.  I personally belive that they are both energies created or deriving from the body, just taken from different places and used for different purposes. One, chi, being taken from the hara, and the other, psi, taken from the sternum.  They are both energies, and I personally believe  that they follow the will or intent of the person, in other words, can be used for anything (in reason that is).
I view as trying to catagorize "what is", and "what isn't" as a waste of time.  One thing is the fact that nobody is sure on what they are using exactly.  When one person is using chi, he may be using psi for all they know... there is no way to tell exactly.  If they are both comming fromt he same place (the human body) why try to tell all these differences between them.  Its like the example of "If the car works, use it", a person might not know exactly what makes a car work, or what causes it to start with a turn of key, but they do know that it works, and how to use it.
These are just some of my views on the subject... :D

We should make this a sticky since it appears so often.
Having been struck once, and object is only more likely to break when struck again; don't strike me.

See folks? We have a conclusion. all of you are equally confused about this post. And all of you have an equal urge to wring my neck :p

Seriously folks, why does anyone give a damn if they are the smae or not? It is going to bring about some dramatic change in the way you do things ? I doubt it.

Nope.  Not too similar in my opinion.

I may be the first with this close-mindedness, but I believe that psi and ki are both 1 energy. Yes, I have supposedly manipulated both, and they had felt different. Yet if I program my chi right, I can gain the same effects as psi and vice-versa. Therefore I believe that they are the different energies with negligible differences.
