Magick / Re: An inquriy regarding a particular book on Alchemy
« on: July 15, 2014, 08:07:08 PM »
I'm familiar with alchemy, and that does not seem legitimate, though, I have not read any books by that author. You can create an elixir from morning dew via using potassium carbonate to absorb moisture out of the air to create a tartar; however, the other stuff does not sound legitimate. You do not make tartars from blood. The Mercury of an alchemical working corresponds to the life essence of a plant which you get via an alcoholic extract, so if any exercises have you working with actual Mercury, then it is wrong on so many different levels. For a legitimate author on alchemy, I recommend Mark Stavish who is the Director of Studies for the Institute for Hermetic Studies. I would check out his book The Path of Alchemy: Energetic Healing & the World of Natural Magic.

:D I already have that book and I really like it. One of the three books I mentioned in the original post (but did not name) is the Path of Alchemy. He was a student of Dr. Albert Reidel who they (they being Mark Stavish and Robert Allen Bartlett) refer to as Frater Albertus. I also have Real Alchemy and The Way of the Crucible by Robert Allen Bartlett. That is why Nicholas felt so sketchy to me, his methods were weird and so much different than the ones I was used to.

Thank you for the reply.

Magick / An inquriy regarding a particular book on Alchemy
« on: July 15, 2014, 07:37:57 PM »
This article is directed to those who have read the book "Covenant of Silence" by Nicholas D. Collette.

Of all my books on alchemy (I have 4 books include the one mentioned above) this book in particular is the most questionable. This particular book has exercises in alchemy which are very different from the exercises provided in my other 3 books on alchemy (two of which are written by the same author).

I was wondering if anyone has done any of the experiments in "Covenant of Silence" or at least read the exercises?

Nicholas died recently and the cause of death was determined to be overdose I believe, however his death has a lot of controversy on his website and a few others. I read through his book and it is unprofessionally written, however he processes in the book are extremely precise and straight-forward.

The exercises mainly involves creating the elixirs with morning dew and even the philosopher's stone using morning dew or blood. He had a website that he was really popular on, however some of his workings involve using Mercury (the actual element mercury and not the mercury as the aspect of spirit) and using blood. It is all really sketchy and in some cases just dangerous.

Of course with proper safety measures it can become safe, but I do not want to be in physical contact with something that could give me mercury poison! Like his method of creating "The True Hermetic Seal" which is supposed to be able to seal a retort and create stones that are harder than diamond.

One day when I have the correct set-up and safety equipment I would like to at least attempt his experiments. However I would really like to hear anybody who is familiar with alchemy because the ways that Nicholas does alchemy is extremely different that the one that I am familiar too (The one I am familiar to is based on the teachings of two of Dr. Albert Reidel's students and other hermetic sources).

The Cafeteria / Re: Occult humor

Unfortunately almost all occult based humor I have is based on really bad puns... and electricity.

So today I practiced bio-electricity manipulation, it was a really shocking experience.
Last night, I meditated outside during a small storm; I was thunderstruck by the results.

Hmm, it seems the rest of my electricity puns are more situation based puns :/

Thank you Akenu.

Ah, okay; It was not a default setting for me to get emails from replies, but I have figured it out thanks to you. :D

I shall cherish that cow.

Questions & Suggestions / I am new here and I have questions
« on: July 15, 2014, 03:22:09 PM »
Okay, so I am new here so I do not know much about how this forum works yet. I have a few of questions.

1. Is there a way to see all articles (and only articles, I do not want their comments to also be search results) posted by a particular user.

2. Where would I post an alchemy related question (technically it is a alchemy book related question)? Would it go under the Magick category?

3. How can I edit my profile? I can not add pictures or an signature like the other users can. Do I have to wait a certain period of time or something of the sort.

4. I am trying to figure out the format of this forum; it looks like it is HTML. Am I able to use HTML to code my posts?

5. Is there a way to receive emails when a post I made has a reply/message?

I would appreciate any and all answers.

Hello and Goodbye / Re: Hello Everyone

Thank you for the advice Shinichi. I have been researching Alchemy for quite awhile, so I know of its complexity (it really excites me when I read about the more complex aspects of Alchemy). Yeah, I have two PDFs created by Prophecy and I want to buy "Initiation Into Hermetics" (I like owning hard copies of books of this nature). But, I do not know much about the work of his brother; I will have to look him up as well. Thanks.

Thanks for the cow ^_^

Hello, my name is Timothy and I am from Florida. I am 18 years old who has been fascinated with metaphysics for many years. My favorite subject of metaphysics is Alchemy, which I have been interested in for about 5 years by now, and lately Hermetic Elemental Magick.

I have almost no skills in any metaphysical arts anymore; the best I can do now is simple manifestations.

Over the past months, I have become interested in elemental magick which eventually led me to here and the articles made by the user "Prophecy." I have been kinda just floating around on this site for a couple of weeks reading Prophecy's articles mainly and finally decided to make an account (Social Anxiety had postponed me to do so) and I want to begin down the path of Hermeticism because it is the one that seems to fit best with me and my interests/beliefs.

I want to pursue the path of alchemy the most, however due to the fact that the 4 books I have on the subject all entail the use of alcohol in the distillation process, I can not really begin actually working in alchemy until three years from now when I am of legal drinking age and can purchase alcohol.

I used to belong to the site known as MyTK, but over the years I outgrew that site because I feel that it was lacking the seriousness that I wanted, so I left that site after being there for about 3 years. (I kinda miss it, it was falling apart when I left it and it was finally destroyed by the most recent admin a year or two ago.)

... I think that is about it. I am pretty shy, but I would really like to connect with this community.
