Psionics / A small tip for future selection and constructs
« on: April 30, 2013, 10:52:55 AM »
A small tip, posting it here because I don't think it's article worthy.

As we know, the actualization of future selection and constructs come from "deep expectation". Often, it is difficult to truly and completely expect that what you are trying to do will happen. However, there is a shift in mindset that may help out.

Consider that if you are to succeed in your task in the future, then due to the way psionics works, you always were going to succeed. There is no other possible outcome but your success. Then, when it comes time for you to actually perform your psionic act, it becomes less of forcing the world to do what you want, and more observing something take place that is so obviously true that there is no surprise.

Think of it this way: are you shocked when you drop something and it falls to the ground? No?
Well, then don't be shocked when the candle flame moves when you expect it to.

Psi and Mental Abilities / Abusing Temporal Mechanics for Fun and Profit

Abusing Temporal Mechanics for Fun and Profit

Ever want to eat your cake before you actually make it? Hereís how you can do it.

The basis of this technique relies on one interesting property of psionics: psi is not limited to causality as we experience it, and can affect the past just as it does the future. However, altering the past can not change things that are known. Hidden data can be altered, and it is theoretically possible for things that have already happened to have been caused by psionic influence from the future.

It is that later application that allows us to abuse the nature of psiís time quirks for fun and profit, taking out a kind of causal loan to do stuff that we canít do now, but certainly can later on. As future selection is using an intent and kinesis to manifest some effect in the future, we shall call this retroselection, which is manifesting an intent with kinesis in the past.

The technique is as follows:
1) Carefully think out the effect you wish to manifest with retroselection.
2) Write down exactly what you want to happen. Organization is key: the more organized you are, the higher the chances of a successful time loop being established. This is the same sort of intent that you would use for a future selection, so make sure you avoid negatives and use as active as an intent you can manage.
3) Write down a reminder in your calendar to perform the retroselection, sometime in the future. Make sure it is as soon as possible, in order to increase the chance that youíll actually get around to doing it, and making sure the intent is still relatively fresh in your mind. What you want to write down is when you wish the effect to happen, and what the intent is.
4) When the designated time for the effect comes around, if all goes well, itíll happen. This is the ďprofitĒ step. ;)
5) When the time you marked on your calendar comes around, perform the retroselection. This is the exact same thing as a future selection, except youíre intent is to actualize the effect that you already experienced.
6) Feel like a badass psionic time hacker.

A warning though: paradoxes are fundamentally not allowed by the universe, it seems. Therefore, if you attempt to use this technique, and for some reason in the future youíll never actually perform the psionic retroselection, then it will fail and you will never see an effect. All time loops must be planned out carefully in advance for a higher chance of success.

The first example would be using a construct before actually making it. The construct, as a psionic object, sits outside of time. There is no reason why you canít use it before itís actually made, just as long as it does get made in the future.

Letís use a focus construct for an example. The purpose of this construct is simple: when the user of it focuses on a sigil that the construct is attached to, then the construct speeds up the rate of gaining focus for the user (this is the basic idea behind the public construct found here: http://forums.vsociety.net/index.php/topic,16587.0.html).

Suppose you wish to create such a construct, but you are having trouble focusing. You have the sigil right in front of you already. It is possible to use the construct before it is made, by focusing on the sigil and thus activating the construct. Once you have gained focus thanks to the construct, you may then create the construct and attach it to the sigil. It is a very good idea to create the construct as soon as you gain focus, for a simple reason: the more time that passes, the less chance that youíll actually get around to performing the act. There is no free lunch, and the work must be done eventually, so the less of a gap between performing the task and using itís effect, the higher chance of success.

Now, the more interesting application. What if you lack psionic ability right now, but predict in the future youíll have it? Is there a way to bootstrap your way into psionic ability? In theory, the answer is yes. Remember, the only time in this technique that requires your ability is at the end!

In this case, your intent should be as follows: ďMy first and subsequent meditation attempts are productive and I gain focus.Ē Make sure you can picture the experience as much as possible. Write down as much as you can about it in a paper or journal or blog, just anywhere itíll be safe. Perhaps make your calendar date when you perform the retroselection about six months from the next time you meditate. Once you do, enjoy a fruitful starting practice. Then, at the end, go back and give your past self a bit of aid.

Lastly, a personal trick Iíve used a great many times, which is sure to be useful for all the students reading this article. Suppose you are about to take a test, but would like the test to be easy. However, you donít have enough time to gain focus and perform the kinesis needed to assure smooth sailing for your GPA. The solution is simple: write it down on your calendar using this technique, and do the retroselection.

Again, I can not stress enough: This is a powerful technique, but it requires an extreme amount of discipline. It allows you to reap the benefits of your work before you actually do it; however, if you never perform the work at all, past or future, then the intent will never, at any time, happen.

Still, once you get the hang of it, it allows you to future select merely by writing down a note on a calendar!

Psionics / What topics would you like to see articles writen about?
« on: January 29, 2012, 08:42:14 AM »
As the topic says. We already have a great deal of articles about getting into psionics in the first place, but as for more advanced topics we are rather lacking at the moment.

So my question to you is, what articles on psionics would you like to see elaborated upon? Tips, techniques, or philosophies are all valid subjects.

Thank you,

Psionics / Random Question 6 -- Conflicting Intentions
« on: September 10, 2011, 08:01:49 PM »
Every once in a while, I will be posting some theoretical question revolving around psionics, be it the practice, the mechanism behind it, or the ethics of performing it. My hope is that an interest may be sparked into seeing just what the possibilities of psionics truly are, and perhaps others will be inspired to put some of the conclusions proposed in these threads to the hard test.

----

In this episode, we have a cast of two: Alexa and Dr. Badguy.

Alexa wants to play the latest video game, Battlecraft, really really badly. She wants it so much that she uses her awesome psionic powers to future select herself playing it that very evening.

Dr. Badguy, in his evil plots, has decided that Alexa shall never play that game (He is worried that she will not do her homework, after all). Laughing and cackling, he performs a future selection so that she does not play the game.

Assuming that both Alexa and Dr. Badguy use the same amount of psionic energy, and that each future selection would work perfectly in the absence of the other, what will happen when these two intents conflict?

Psionics / Random Question 5 - Retroactive Responsibility

Each week once in a while, I will be posting some theoretical question revolving around psionics, be it the practice, the mechanism behind it, or the ethics of performing it. Yeah, so you guys probably thought this died. How silly.

Let's go back to the time travel topics, since they seem so popular. The premise of the question goes like this: Retro-kinesis can modified minor bits of the past. Nothing critical or world changing, but it can be done. The typical example of this is to run a true random number generator, save the results, and then attempt to manipulate the results at some point in the future. This is possible and has been demonstrated.

Known things, however, can not be altered. You can't use kinesis to give Hitler a heart attack before he rose to power, for example.

Now, what if you use kinesis to manipulate events so that they happen exactly as known. For example, a guy named Eric presses a button labeled "Pie in the Face", and expectedly gets a pie thrown in his face. He regrets that decision. When he tells his friend Tom about it, Tom uses kinesis on the past and selects a past where Eric pressed the button and got a pie in the face, exactly as it happened already. Who's fault is it, then? Eric's or Tom's? Did any actual kinesis take place?

Psionics / Random Question 4 - Practical Petty Psionics

This week, we aren't going to talk directly about the theory of psionics. We are going to talk about the practice. And we are going to be talking about the fun parts of the practice.

You've checked your wallet, nothing in there.
That hot guy or girl has caught your eye.
You really, really didn't study for that exam.
Someone needs a good sucker punch from the universe itself.
You are bored and need something exciting to happen.

Yes, all these and more are quite everyday concerns. But hey, half the fun of psionics is getting to use your abilities for these things. So, go ahead, indulge your ego this week. Tell us about something you've done in the past, where you used psionics to solve some problem along these lines. However, don't think you can share these things without giving the how-to as well, so share how you did it as well.

--

As for me, I mooch off the universe sometimes. A refund check for a large sum comes in that I don't remember applying for. $50 randomly appears in my wallet. A twenty randomly flutters to my feet with no one in sight to claim it. Doing this, money for immediate concerns is never an issue. The intent of the future selection is simple as well, "During X (Insert some period of time, while I am a student in my case), all my financial concerns will be taken care of". Though, it is a good idea to check that it isn't a coincidence, so make sure that you keep track of these occasions of monetary gain while you have the intent active and while it is not active. Always good to have some sense of being empirical about it.

Psionics / Random Question 3 - Energy
« on: June 13, 2011, 10:56:07 PM »
Each week, I will be posting some theoretical question revolving around psionics, be it the practice, the mechanism behind it, or the ethics of performing it. So, I sincerely apologise for missing the last two weeks. Details and excuses shall be spared.

Let's talk about energy for a moment. It's a fundamental component to just about every metaphysical act. Almost every paradigm contains some notion of it as well, from psi, to elemental energy, to chi, etc.

Yet, what is it exactly? In physics, energy tends to be defined by what it can do, namely it is the ability to perform work (Work being a force applied over some distance). Fair enough, and the definition might also be extended in metaphysics to say that energy is the ability to perform metaphysical work. Alright then, but what is it exactly, without saying what it can do? I've not had a single physics professor that was able to give me an answer to what physical energy is that agreed with the definition of another, save that energy is "stuff". The problem, I think, extends to metaphysics as well. Can it be defined beyond "metaphysical stuff"?

Now, while we are comparing physical and metaphysical energy, there are some concerns as well:

1) Physical energy can not be created or destroyed (Quiet kobok), does the same true hold for metaphysical energy? If so, this implies that there is a finite amount of it out there.
2) We can convert metaphysical energy into physical energy, this is most often seen in kinesis. It doesn't seem to be the case that you can do the opposite, so does that mean the conversion is one way?
3) Is there a metaphysical version of the laws of thermodynamics? By this, I mean that in a physical system, energy isn't converted at 100% efficiency, and some of it is lost and becomes useless heat energy. This is called entropy. Is there metaphysical entropy?

Psionics / Random Question 2 - Knowledge is Responsibility

- - - - -

So, it seems that, if last week's discussion is anything to go by, it is indeed worthwhile to continue these discussions. You guys rock! :)

This week, I ask a question about the morality and ethics of psionics.

Discussion #2 - Knowledge is Responsibility

We have all heard that knowledge is power. But more than that, knowledge is responsibility. In fact, the relationship between power, knowledge, and responsibility is the very reason we have the study of ethics in the first place. And, as we know, psionics creates quite the potential for both power and knowledge.

Our scanning abilities give us an advantage in the information we can collect and process about the world. Our kinesis and future selection gives us great power over how events play out. When do we have a problem with this combination? When are we justified and not justified to use our abilities? If I see someone on a path to self-destruction, can I use future selection to interfere with their life and help them out, without asking? What if I do have permission? What if I do not have their permission, or can not attain it? What if I scan and see that my interference is the only possible good path for them?

If I see something bad about to happen, and I do nothing to prevent it and I could have, does that make me also responsible for the event?
