Have you guys seen this?  What do you think?  This sort of reminds me of Nag Hammadi, the information in these might be similar.

The Cafeteria / What do you lot make of stories like this?

Not sure if this belongs here, I know it has nothing to do with dreams, astral projection, meditation, or lsd.

But, anyway, the residence hall I'm staying in this year is probably pushing 100 years old and has long been considered haunted.  Supposedly there have been sightings of it and other sorts of unexplained things that I don't really know the details of.  My room mate, and mostly myself, are all over this though and plan to see what we can see.  If anyone has any input on ghost hunting I'm all ears.  If you want any other info you can just ask or PM me.

Martial Arts / Anyone have an opinion on this?
« on: January 27, 2009, 05:12:32 PM »  I think its what China's S.W.A.T uses or something, I can't find out much about it.

Magick / What exactly do magicians do?
« on: August 01, 2008, 01:09:30 PM »
I know I'm probably going to get flamed for asking this but just out of curiosity what do magicians do?  I know something about summoning is involved and probably a lot of reading but beyond that I'm ignorant.  Please, enlighten me.

Martial Arts / Ethics of Defense
« on: September 28, 2006, 09:20:21 AM »
I don't see that the ethics of defense are discussed enough on this forum, I want to know what other martial arts views on this are.  The Tae Kwon Do ethics are (there are hand drawn pictures but first off they arent a very good print anyway and my scanner isn't hooked up at the moment):

A - The man on the left, without provocation and on his own initiative attacks the otehr man and kills him.  Ethically, this is the lowest of the four levels - unprovoked agression in the form of direct attack.

B - The man on the left has not directly attacked the other man.  BUT he has provoked the other man to attack him.  When the other man is invited to attack, he is killed.  While the first man is not guilty of launching the actual attack, he is responsible for inciting the other man to attack.  Ethically, ther is only a shade of difference between A and B.

C - The man on the left neither attacks nor provokes the other man to attack, BUT when attacked he defends himself in such a manner that the otehr man is either killed or at least seriously injured.  Ethically, even though the man on the left is not responsible for the attack, directly or indirectly, but because of the method of his defense the result is still the same.  A man is killed.

D - This would be the ultimate theical means of self-defense.  Neither attacking nor provoking an attack.  The man on the left defends himself in such a way that the attacker is not killed or seriously injured.  This is the way of the martial arts!

That's the core ethics that are built around in Tae Kwon Do, at least in my school.  I just want to know if your schools have a similar system of ethics and what they are.

Martial Arts / Shin Splints

Hey, does anybody know anything I can do to help heal my shin splints?  I got them really bad in my right leg, and I'm afraid I don't know much about it except what it is.

Martial Arts / W00t!
« on: October 26, 2005, 08:24:15 PM »
Yo, i just wanted to tell somebody that i have my first tourney in like 3 years.  Pretty sure theres going to be some pwnage delt out there.  w00t, i hope i see some of the guys (losers) i used to compete against especially since the host is an ass hole...

Is it just me or does it seem like Martial Arts are viewed as violent activities?  And that Martial Arts are usually marketed as a sport or hobby just like any other?  SOme of this annoys me almost as much as those radki idiots....

Martial Arts / Arnis/escrima?
« on: June 26, 2005, 08:22:35 PM »
Can someone tell me the difference between arnis and escrima.  I am fairly sure that the weapons in arnis are called escrima sticks or something like that so why would there be a seperate art called escrima?  Or, am I just totally confused?

I was messing around with telepathy one time when I realized that you can influence what people do or say.  I was just wondering if any of you had perfeceted this better than I have or have any tips on the subject; its very useful when it works : ).

Martial Arts / Strength and building muscle
« on: March 29, 2005, 04:13:03 PM »
Does anyone know any good excercises for free weights.  I have been working out hard every other day for the past few months but I am not getting the progress in strength and mass that I would expect, or at least what I think I should be expecting, I am not really sure.
