Spirituality / Re: New to Hellenism

So the problem now is that I can't have an altar considering that I live with my mom and she doesn't condone these sort of things.
A few ideas for alters are:
A small wooden box, about the size of a shoe box or cigar box. You could have your symbols on top of the box when practising, or alternatively place the box on its side, and have your symbols inside the box with the lid open like a door, so to speak, when practising.

You could also just have an alter cloth on its own on the floor, with your symbols place on it; or even embroidered, or stitched, on it.
A small skin of leather or parchment is an idea. You could roll it up after use.
A hinged board (like a chess board) would do.
A triptych would be another alternative.

It is the state of your mind that’s more important than the material objects used as a focus.

Do an ‘images’ web search for traveling altars for more ideas.

Hope this helps. All the best.

This is what I am speaking of Akenu. You people are crazy, and I feel like I can say that seeing as you just tried to stalk me and dropped an alias I use online on my social media pages in the forum that you thought was personal information.....

...... What you did is called surveillance; it is part of stalking. The purpose behind stalking is essentially to exert an influence on people where you dropped what you thought was personal information as a means to intimidate me, which is not going to work.........

This is worrying, Ryan. I am concerned. How is it possible that someone can stalk you on this forum? Could someone stalk me, by me being on this forum, or any forum for that matter? How can I protect myself from this?

I had similar frustration when I first started studying this stuff, but eventually  I decided to cut the bullshit and go to the source, and I only wish I'd done so sooner. I found teachers who had achieved the things I want to achieve, and now I study under them, just as you would with any other human endeavour. It requires a lot more initial investment than downloading a few dozen PDF's and trying to wing it by yourself, but there's a reason these systems of training have always thrived in situations where they are passed down through a direct lineage of teacher > student...........

May I ask what system(s) you are following or practising, please?

IIH is definitely a good start, but also a very complex book. Most people give up very early and it is actually hard to keep up with the practice. The book was intended this way to keep out the "unworthy". Unfortunately times have change and most of us do not have the luxury of time required to cope with IIH.

Which books would you recommend instead then, if any?

..............., but heed my warning and stay away from cults (some even proposed here on the site).

What would you consider a cult?
Would you consider the OTO, and other Golden Dawn offshoots, and the various Wiccan and Druid groups, etc. to be cults?

How about changing the forum name a little to, lets say, 'Occult Veritas', as an example; for it is not obvious that it is an occult forum with just the name 'Veritas'; at first I though I might be a political forum.
And, when doing an internet search, 'Veritas' is less likely to come up because the word 'veritas' on its own has no occult connotations.

Bear in mind, though, that the more effort and concentration one puts into making a magical object or substance, the greater the connection between the object and the magic.

Ginkgo Biloba, either an extract or the herb itself, will only ease the symptoms of tinnitus. It works by helping the blood flow to the smaller capillaries in the body. Expect warmer hands, feet, and ears in winter as well. It also improves the blood flow to the brain, and sexual organs.
Expect to see results after about three months of usage.
Stay clear of alcohol, and don’t smoke. Both alcohol and nicotine will exasperate the symptoms.
Obviously, stay clear of loud music and other loud noises. Be very careful with headphones, best not to use them.

I suggest you read the book, "Health and Yoga" by Yesudian and Haich 1953, it has loads of scientific facts towards that matter...

I've just gone and bought it. It better be good, InitiateoftheFlame.  :)

However, you are incorrect that the pineal gland is unrelated to the Ajna chakra by location. The major chakras extend from the spine. The Ajna chakra, being within the brain, can't extend from the spine, but since it is located in the center of the brain, its location still follows the general pattern, and if you follow a line directly from the pineal to the front of the body you arrive at (surprise, surprise!) the Ajna point:

I didn't say that the Ajna chakra was unrelated to the Pineal gland, I said they are not near each other relatively speaking.
I always thought the Ajna chakra was just above the eyebrows; and that is also where I feel the tingling vibrations sometimes, though I do realise that tingling in the forehead can be caused by a few other things than just the Ajna chakra; but I suppose what you say does make more sense if the Ajna chakra were to follow the alignment of the other chakras, and sit just above the brain stem, or there about. Thank you for that.

First of all, if there is a structure in the brain that could be called a third eye, the pineal gland is a very good candidate.

Ah, more replies. Thanks everyone. And thank you Latros, that was a very comprehensive and interesting reply.

All the metaphysical theories for the pineal gland intrigue me. The fact that the pineal gland is, relatively speaking, nowhere near where the Ajna chakra is said to be I find curious, that is if there is a connection between the two.

I have started taking Skate liver oil though. My thinking being that Skate liver oil is good for you anyway; it contains all the Omega fatty acids and vitamins A, D, E, & K.  And, if by any chance Skate liver oil does decalcifies the pineal gland too, then that would be a bonus.

Thanks for your replies everyone.
@ Akenu, that link was funny, and yes I read the whole thread, and the links within that link.

As we get older our pineal gland calcifies to such an extent that it shows up on x-rays.

There are many online articles discussing various techniques on how to decalcify the pineal gland, for the purpose of opening the third eye chakra. Some of the techniques are to meditate, or the consumption of skate oil etc. They say that if you can feel your third eye or Ajna chakra tingle, then you’re well on the way to decalcification of the pineal gland, which is situated, not near the Ajna chakra but, deep down near the centre of the brain. Now, vibrational feelings in my forehead are nothing new to me, but……

Is this really possible, the decalcification of the pineal gland, or is it just a load of new age nonsense?
