hmm, another term i'll have to put into the article

anyway, back on topic.
there is two types(unless i am mistaken). Rad ki and Trad ki.
they mean Radical and Traditional.
i'm not to sure on the definition for tradition, but radki basicly is using ki for things like ki blasts(and other DBZ inspired ki stuff).
Radki is also pretty bad for your energy system and can cause blockages and stuff.

Traditional is the better way to do ki, but i'll leave that for other more guys who have more experiance with ki to explain.

The practitioners:

RadKi: DBZer  :D

TradChi: The old Chinese guy, who practices Tai Chi ) :p

(Of course, the the old Chinese guy is just an example, so don't flame...)

RadKi or Radical Ki is the "newly" developed system of ki that follows techniues usually inspired by anime such as DBZ. It uses extreme visualization and uses alot of energy at once for seemingly useless reasons to me. This can cause different flows of energy at quick bursts, which in turn can damage your meridians. Just like suddenly running and then suddenly stoping can be bad for your heart, this can be bad for your meridians and perhaps chakras(if you believe in them).

TradKi or Traditional Ki is techniques that usually involve some form of physical movement and these techniques are usually thousands of years old, derived from Ancient Asia. Traditional techniques steadily increase the amount and density of energy that your body can handle therefore protecting you from the fatalities that come with RadKi.

Yes, we do have control over our own energy. You can harm other people with your energy, but it is extremely hard/impossible to harm yourself with your own enery. I'm not positive if you could harm yourself with your own energy, because I've never tried anything like that.

It is VERY possible to harm yourself with your own energy. I could tie a knot in some of my meridians right now, but I'd rather not X_X

Radical : new stuff
Traditional : Techniques that have been practiced for many years

I havent actually hurt myself with my on energy yet, but I dont plan on testing that theory any time soon  ;)

The above definition given, is that of Radchi. Radchi, or Radical Chi-manipulation, is the newest form of energy manipulation. A media-influenced practice of energy manipulation.
Radchi has brought forth some interesting definitions of Chi. For instance; Radchi manipulates Chi directly from the will alone. Radchi does a lot more combat-oriented training, and works with ‘techniques’. Some being downright ridiculous in my opinion, others not.

you have control over your feet... but i am sure you might have hit yourself or slipped before with them... therefore control does not equal "no pain"
As the tears of a snowdrop,
Traverse my dented scars.
Cleanse the illusions of lonliness,
Oh, wonderous white clusters.
Dissolve the fetters of blinding summer,
And plunge me back into
My "emotional winter".

-A poem of mine...

I've yet to see any radki techniques that weren't either;
1. Useless
2. Dangerous. Due to the over emphasis on improper visualization. You move your qi the worng way you can do damage - to yourself.
      or
3. Both

This is an old topic but it has been read many times.  So I wanted to add a common sense note here...

Ancient masters of Ki/Chi practices already discovered these capacities and ruled them out of the healthful/spiritual benefits and excluded them from their training.

RadKi is not new.  It is people who are new to Ki practices attempting to rediscover various Ki qualities, largely influenced by fantastical examples in anime/media.

So be careful if someone want's to show you a cool RadKi trick.  They can do more harm than good!
